Glass Eel

|gløs il| (noun) stage of an eel in metamorphosis when the larva thickens from being leaf-like to a cylindrical being. Its length shortens - 7.5mm to 6mm - while its weight drops as much as 9tenth. information of'limited interest'= at this stage of skin transparency , the anus migrates forward and the head is large in proportion to the shrunken remainder. - recollection of "the book of eels" by Tom Fort
